Two examples of good practice in the field of social entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova were presented at a seminar on: ‘Knowledge sharing on public support to encourage social enterprises’, which took place in Germany. This is the ‘cherry flower’ company, which for 7 years carries out a social entrepreneurship activity contributing to community development, creating new socio-professional training and employment opportunities for disadvantaged people, as well as providing catering services in the Republic of Moldova. The second organisation supporting social entrepreneurship is the East European Foundation, which comes with various business development and support projects, education programmes and technical assistance.
The event was organised as part of the Finance4SocialChange Project, in which ODIMM is a partner with representatives from 14 countries in the Danube basin. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova – ODIMM and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure – noted that the legislative framework on the recognition of social entrepreneurship was adopted in 2017 and now follows the certification of social enterprises that can practise this kind of activity. In this context, the MEI representative indicated that for 2019 the Ministry’s agenda included the development and approval of measures to support and encourage social entrepreneurship.
The workshop aimed to exchange experiences on partner countries’ practices in order to analyse their transferability and uptake by partners.
Social entrepreneurship helps to increase social inclusion, create jobs, involve people from disadvantaged groups in economic activities and facilitate their access to social resources and services.
