Enterprises in the sector HORECA they will benefit from reduced VAT rates for some products during the state of emergency and the state of public health emergency.

At the sitting of 23 April, members approved a project to reduce up to 6 % of the VAT rate on foodstuffs and/or beverages, excluding the prepared or unprepared alcoholic production for human consumption, accompanied by related services enabling their immediate consumption, carried out within the framework of activities attributed under Section I of the Classification of Activities of the Economy of Moldova during the period of the state of emergency and the state of public health emergency.

The authors of the project argued that the establishment of a special tax regime for economic operators in the HoReCa sector was justified by the fact that, as a result of the multiple restrictions imposed on the performance of various activities, service providers suffered enormous losses, which were also reflected in lower wages or, more generally, job losses.

The draft law on the special taxation of services carried out in the framework of activities attributed in Section I of the Classification of Activities in the Economy of Moldova was voted in two readings.
