Workshop “Connecting Business: Tools and Benefits”
The Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) organised today, 29 January, in the framework of the exhibition “Made in Moldova”, the Workshop with the Generic “Connecting Business: Tools and Benefits”.
The event brought together more than 80 SMUs, public institutions and service providers to discuss instruments to support SMUs with growth potential at national and international level.
At the opening of the workshop, Iulia Costin, Director-General of ODIMM, stressed the importance of these debates for representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in order to access foreign markets and establish partnerships.
“One of the ODIMM’s priorities is to facilitate the cooperation of domestic companies with international companies and shop networks present on the local market. In this regard, we aimed to inform small and medium-sized enterprises about the support tools, the steps that need to be taken to get to export. We invited relevant actors to co-create these steps. Support instruments in the management of ODSMEs can also help the HLF to— and achieve the proposed objectives’.
Iuliana Drăgălin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, reiterated the state’s support for the internationalisation of the HMM.
‘The promotion of exports, the substitution of imports and the exploitation of the internal market by indigenous HME products is an objective of the Government, laid down in a series of policies and strategies. At the same time, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure constantly monitors the evolution of the economy and the SME sector. We are in the process of finalising a new pilot Business Support Programme with high growth potential and their internationalisation to be launched and implemented this year’.
Andrei Crigan, Partener at Gateway & Partners, highlighted tools and methods to connect businesses.
“To increase companies’ chances of success in foreign markets, they should take three steps: participation in international fairs and exhibitions, economic missions and organisation of individual meetings with potential clients. Before accessing a market, the SMI should carefully study its specificities”.
Oxana Paladiciuc, senior expert Enterprise Europe Network, mentioned the importance of the EEN network. “Entrepreneurs with the potential and ambitions to grow and internationalise can benefit from the information support, organisation of missions and thematic events necessary for the creation of partnerships”.
The event was attended by Vladislav Cotici, Director General of the National Food Safety Agency and Inga Varvariuc, Deputy Director of the National Standards Institute, who described the importance, steps and advantages of certification and standardisation for the development of domestic companies and their growth on international markets.
The workshop also highlighted practical aspects and real histories of SMUs that managed to conquer the local and external market.
The event ended with useful tips and examples for companies wishing to cooperate with store networks and a productive dialogue between representatives of Metro Cash & Carry and the HMM.
The workshop was organised by ODIMM as a member of the Enterprise Europe Network .
