Today, the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises organised the Workshop on Cluster Development in the Republic of Moldova at the Fabricated Exhibition in Moldova. Entrepreneurs, as well as organisations supporting the SME sector, participated in the event.

“The aim of today’s meeting is to inform entrepreneurs about the advantages of clusters and create a dialogue between entrepreneurs and public authorities to stimulate Cluster initiatives at national level and present the support programme to be approved shortly,” said ODIMM Acting Director-General Petru Gurgurov.
The ODIMM official reiterated the importance of associating companies as a new impetus for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the regions. “ODSMEs encourage efficient models of collaboration between business and policymakers to directly contribute to increased performance, productivity and visibility,” stressed Gurgurov.
Silvia Cangea-Digolean, ODIMM coordinator, pointed out that two new clusters were created in the Republic of Moldova in 2018 with the support of the TAIEX mission: Regional Cluster CREATIV in Cahul and Cluster Textil in Soroca SORINTEX. “These clusters contribute directly to increasing competitiveness between companies and bring added value to entrepreneurs in the regions,” said Silvia Cangea-Digolean.
Daniel Coșniță, President of the Romanian Cluster Association presented the international cluster concept. “International experience shows that the association of public and private manufacturing companies, suppliers and institutions operating in a given sector (cluster networking) enhances technological performance and productivity, contributing to the competitiveness of companies, market expansion and increased visibility. Studies show that 70 % of clusters worldwide have a strong or very strong competitive position on the market, while 60 % are characterised by a high level of innovation”.
Clusters are geographical concentrations of interconnected institutions and companies in a given field. Clusters comprise a cluster of related industries and other competitively important entities that cooperate, formally or informally, by implementing joint projects for benefits at local, regional or state level.
