The principles of empowering women are supported and promoted by ODSMEs through the range of services and products they administer. Director General ODIMM, Iulia Costin participated in the generalist conference today Equality means business ", organised by UN WOMEN Moldova.

During the event, Iulia Costin stressed that ODIMM in partnership with UN WOMEN was the basis for the initiative to support private sector companies on the implementation of the Principles of Empowerment for Women in different sectors of the national economy.

“ODIMM has helped shape the principles of empowerment of women in the Republic of Moldova, with great untapped potential but in need of financial support, training and mentoring. In this context, the Women in Business Programme has been launched for women who want to assert themselves and leave the comfort zone to start up business. The piloting period has come to an end, but following very high demand, the programme has been extended until 2021. The good results of the first phase led EU partners to replace the budget, "said Iulia Costin.

The event showcased the international experience and good practices of local companies in implementing the Principles of Empowerment of Women. A prominent example of this is the participation of Business Women in the exhibition organised in the framework of the International Conference of Green Moldovan SMEs with competitive products and services, in just one year of entrepreneurial activity.

The principles of empowering women aim to remove barriers that prevent their economic empowerment so that they enjoy income security, decent work and economic autonomy. These actions shall be promoted by UN WOMEN, in partnership with the Government, civil society organisations, academia and the private sector of the Republic of Moldova.
