The PARE 1 + 1 Programme Committee approved 39 grant applications
The Monitoring Committee for the ‘PARE 1 + 1’ Economic Discharge Programme approved 39 grant applications submitted by companies created by migrants or their relatives, totalling more than RON 7.8 million, according to a communication from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure. Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmîc, President of the Committee, stressed that supporting citizens investing in the national economy is one of the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, and that the Executive recently decided to increase the ceiling for non-reimbursable funding from RON 200 to RON 250. “The “PARE 1 + 1” programme has a growing interest among migrants and their relatives, leading to a steady increase in the number of people interested in returning home or investing remittances in the creation and development of their own business”, said the Minister for the Economy.
Iulia Iabanji, Director of the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM), mentioned that out of 39 entrepreneurs, who received approval for funding, 28 are active in agriculture and are oriented towards various types of activity: cereal and vine breeding, fruit growing, animal husbandry including also chinchillas, beekeeping. A further 6 beneficiaries will provide passenger transport services, vehicle repair and maintenance, healthcare services, leisure camp. Businesses will also be developed in innovative areas such as interactive services in Virtual Reality, and 5 other beneficiaries are active in the furniture manufacturing industry, the manufacture of PVC products and the production of pasta.
Investment projects will help create 83 jobs, of which 22 jobs are expected for women. Out of the total applications for funding, 18 businesses are start-ups and 21 companies are in the expansion/growth phase of the business.
Between January and September 2017, 287 applications were submitted for the training component and 163 beneficiaries have already received training under the ‘PARE 1 + 1’ programme. During the same period, 113 grant applications in the amount of RON 22.08 million were accepted, which will contribute to cumulative investments in the national economy exceeding the amount of RON 76 million.

The PARE 1 + 1 programme aims to mobilise the human and financial resources of Moldovan citizens working abroad in the sustainable economic development of our country by stimulating the creation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The programme operates under the ‘1 + 1’ rule, so that each leu invested from remittances will be replaced by a leu in the form of a grant under the Programme. Grant beneficiaries may be citizens of the Republic of Moldova working abroad and beneficiaries of remittances, first-degree relatives.
