The National Bank of Moldova recognised the financial guarantees issued by the IMMOs as credit risk mitigation.

On 29 May 2020, the amendments to the NBM Regulation regarding the treatment of credit risk for banks under the standardised approach No.111 of 24 May 2018 entered into force. This was supplemented by a new point – 381, which allows banks to apply a weight of credit risk to exposures to guarantees issued by the ODIMM to a proportion of only 20 %”.

In order to benefit from State guarantees, entrepreneurs have to apply to one of the partner banks of the IMMO, after which the bank will examine the credit application and submit the guarantee application to ODIMM together with the undertaking’s request. ODIMM will examine the guarantee application within a period of up to 5 working days, and if it is accepted, the bank and the applicant will be able to sign the credit agreement.

The financial resources of the Credit Guarantee Fund consist of allocations from the State Budget, assistance from donors and other sources.

So far, the IMMO has issued financial guarantees for 415 companies worth lei 155.81 million, which facilitated bank loans worth lei 460.05 million. SME financing contributed to the implementation of investment projects worth more than lei 677 million and to facilitating the creation and maintenance of more than 1,000 new jobs.
