Entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova will be guided in business start-up and development, as well as in accessing financial resources. ODIMM, through the project “Readline of the Government of the Republic of Moldova in economic policies”, implemented by GIZ Moldova, launched Guidelines for Financial Resources for SMEs and Start-ups at an online event held today. He/she it includes useful and practical information on all business support available in our country, from grants to consultancy, mentoring and entrepreneurial training services.

Data from the National Statistics Office show that at present the HMMs account for 98.6 % of all enterprises in the Republic of Moldova and the number of employees there are 61.6 % of the total workforce in the country. The new Guide aims to maintain and increase the number of businesses, as well as the number of employees, which will subsequently contribute to the country’s economic growth. The booklet contains a detailed description of the first steps for opening a business, taxes and levies, planning, attracting investments, financial resources, grants, loans.

IULIANA Drăgălin, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure reiterated the importance of information support for domestic companies.

“Today’s guide is a very important resource for entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova. We have taken into account the demands and opinions of entrepreneurs, so the information presented is accessible, clear and extremely useful”.

According to the Director General ODIMM, Iulia Costin, such an initiative is vital for the domestic business environment and is an important support for Moldovan HEIs.

“The funding guide for SMEs and start-ups is an introduction to the business world and a guide to the development of their own business. We want to build a strong, competent, solid and bold community of entrepreneurs to revive the economy and increase the overall well-being of the country. We know how acute is the lack of funds to start up business in Moldova and we are convinced that this Guide will be of great help to existing entrepreneurs and aspirants in our country”.

The new support initiative is intended to provide more efficient financial education to entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs, as well as to provide them with access to current funding resources.

Thomas Foerch, the project manager “Advision of the Moldovan government in economic policies” GIZ, expressed confidence that this tool is an informative tool and will help maintain the success of a business.

“Access to financial resources is not the only but undoubtedly one of the major challenges for SMEs and start-ups both global and Moldova. Targeted support for this category of enterprises would increase their contribution to overall economic growth and welfare. Our aim in drawing up this handbook was to make it accessible and inclusive so that complicated financial issues are easily understandable and perceived by people without specialised education and, in particular, people from vulnerable groups who want to start and grow their businesses”.

The Guide to Financial Resources for SMEs and Start-up is drawn up at the request of the ODIMM and published through the project “Readline of the Government of the Republic of Moldova in economic policies”, implemented by GIZ Moldova with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC).
