13 March 2025, Chisinau – the Government of the Republic of Moldova, and the European Union, through the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, provided lei 26.3 million in grants to 75 local companies. The total value of investment in the economy generated by these funds amounts to more than lei 51.3 million.

Grants are distributed through several programmes managed by ODA. Under the Digital Transformation Programme for small- and medium-sized enterprises, 46 companies will benefit from grants totalling lei 12.3 million, with investment estimated at lei 20.7 million in the national economy. This funding is used for the acquisition and deployment of digital technologies.

Under the female entrepreneurship support programme, 16 companies will benefit from grants totalling lei 5.7 million. The implementation of these investment projects is estimated to generate a total investment of lei 12 million economy-wide. The funded initiatives target business development in sectors such as manufacture of milling, bakery and patiling products, healthcare and education.

Under the Technology and Energy Efficiency Programme of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, eight companies in various business sectors receive grants totalling lei 5.8 million. These funds will support investment estimated at lei 13.6 million, thus helping modernise and streamline production processes.

At the same time, five companies will develop their business via the Programme to attract remittances into the economy, with a total of lei 2.4 million in non-repayable financial support. This financing will generate investment in the economy of almost lei 5 million.

Out of the 75 companies receiving grants, 65 are funded by the Moldovan government with lei 23 million, while 10 companies receive EU financial support totalling lei 3.3 million.

At the event, Eugeniu Harabara, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, stressed the importance of support for entrepreneurs:

“The Government’s support is a firm commitment to support each entrepreneur and each business that contributes to the country’s economic development in overcoming obstacles.
The Republic of Moldova needs as many courageous entrepreneurs as possible, who think in the long term and who are motivated to actively contribute to changing their community, to change things for the good, thus strengthening the national economy.
I encourage you to show the same perseverance and dedication. Every step you are contributing to the change we all want and your success is the success of the whole country", said Eugeniu Harabara.

Miroslav Bozic, Programme Officer within the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, stressed the importance of partnership with Moldovan authorities for the development of the economy.
“Support for entrepreneurship and sustainable development of SMEs is a core component of our partnership with Moldova. We are pleased to see the continuous increase in the number of qualitative applications to national SME programmes supported by the EU and the increase in the number of companies benefiting from these programmes. The EU will continue to support SMEs as a major driver for a stronger Moldovan economy, which is also an important pillar of the recently proposed EU Growth Plan for Moldova" said Miroslav Bozic, Programme Officer within the European Union Delegation to Moldova.
Vadim Codreanu, Director of the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, highlighted the impact of such financing on the entrepreneurial environment:

“We are grateful for the considerable support provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Union and the World Bank Group, which contribute substantial financial support to the implementation of all programmes managed by ODA. In this context, I would like to stress the importance of the Programme to increase the competitiveness of local producers and their integration in value chains, a recently launched programme that offers significant opportunities for business development.We encourage you to apply to all active programmes, including this programme! Each company will be able to access up to lei 2 million through this programme" said Vadim Codreanu.

Since the beginning of 2025, ODA has registered 136 companies with grants totalling lei 69.3 million, which will generate investment in the economy amounting to lei 140.6 million.

Of these, 114 are financed from the state budget, 14 receive financial support from the European Union through the project “European Union for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises”, seven companies obtained financing through the “DOMDE 2” project, funded by the European Union and implemented with the support of the International Centre for the Development of Migration Policies and Migration Partnership Facility, through ODA, Veneto Lavoro and BRD, and one company was financed from World Bank Group sources.
