Seven enterprises obtained social enterprise status
The National Commission for Social Entrepreneurship has provided social enterprise status[1] for seven companies, one of which has become a social enterprise status[2].
The distinctive criterion of social enterprises is to solve social problems and provide employment to people in disadvantaged groups of the population. Obtaining the status of social enterprisethey can benefit from social entrepreneurship support programmes in the Republic of Moldova, including through the IMMS, but also various regional, national or international programmes.
They may also benefit from free advice from authorities in the development of the business; the allocation of premises and/or land under public ownership of administrative-territorial units; support in promoting products produced and/or supplied, services rendered or works carried out within the community and identifying outlets for them;other facilities and exemptions from taxes and levies granted by local government authorities in accordance with the law, etc.
Companies operate in various fields, including catering, chillers, production and processing of agri-food products, robotics, consultancy and training, creative recycling.
The membership of the Commission comprises representatives of the Government, non-commercial organisations and the Moldovan Local Authorities Congress. The Commission’s presidency is held by the Ministry of Economy.
[1] The social enterprise is the enterprise consisting of onerous associations, foundations, religious custodians, private institutions and/or individuals carrying out social entrepreneurship activities in order to resolve social problems of Community interest.
[2] The social enterprise is the social enterprise aiming at creating jobs and reaching, as a matter of priority, people from disadvantaged groups of the population.
