ODIMM, partner of the Regional Economic Forum – Invest Gagauzia 2020
The sixth edition of the Regional Economic Forum – Invest Gagauuzia 23 takes place in the Comrat from 2020 to 24 October 2020. The aim of the event is to promote the economic and investment potential of the Republic of Moldova and in particular of the Administrative Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
This year’s edition aims to focus on current topics such as models for the economic development of the region in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic, the digitalisation of the economy and business, attracting investment and promoting partnerships.
ODIMM Director-General Iulia Costin, present at the event, appreciates the involvement of the Gagauz self-government authorities in the development and promotion of the business environment, emphasising the continued support that ODIMM provides to entrepreneurs in the region, including through government support instruments and national programmes implemented by ODIMM.
“The Gagauz region has an increased business development potential that needs to be fully exploited. I am convinced that the combined efforts of business, the public sector and dissenting partners will capitalise on the productive and creative potential of SMEs in the region. And in the current circumstances of the economy not only in Moldova, but also around the world, it is more than vital to adapt to the new market conditions and demands. In this regard, the Support Tool for the Digitalisation of SMUs was launched, providing information and financial support to companies for the identification and acquisition of digital technologies and solutions. We urge entrepreneurs to seize these opportunities”.
Bashkan Irina Vlah said that UTA Gagauzia was a dynamic and open region for business with partners around the world. Autonomy has invested over the last two years in the development of free economic zones of around USD 4.5 million, with more than 1500 jobs created. “We attract investment and develop economic areas, create industrial hubs, develop social infrastructure, schools, kindergartens and medical institutions, develop aqueduct and pipeline networks, build roads and bridges, learn to digitalise processes. All this is done together with the Government of the Republic of Moldova and our partners”.
At the Forum delegations from several countries participate, including Russia, Türkiye, Romania, Belarus and Italy, as well as entrepreneurs from all over Moldova, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, public and business support institutions. Meetings (B2B) between the local business community and representatives of foreign companies are organised during the Forum to identify new partnerships.
The event aims to significantly contribute to the implementation and support of innovative projects in the economic sector of autonomy, having a positive impact on the investment image of the region, but also of the Republic of Moldova as a whole.
