In the framework of the information campaign “EU for Rural Moldova” a series of information events on European Union financial assistance projects and successful histories are organised starting on 17 September 2021. The first activity took place in Micleușeni village, Strășeni district and Răzeni village, Ialoveni district, municipalities that received EU assistance.

Local people had the opportunity to learn about the improvements made to the locality with the help of EU assistance, namely increasing the competitiveness of the agri-food sector, modernising supply and sewerage infrastructure, making public buildings more energy efficient, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and encouraging modern education.

Representatives of local public authorities mentioned that these municipalities have many beneficiaries that are supported by the EU, families that have already managed to form their own activities, and urged all economic operators and stakeholders to implement projects financed by development partners.

The information events were attended by representatives and beneficiaries of EU projects, Local Action Groups and local beneficiaries, as well as organisations implementing EU-funded projects, including ODIMM. They discussed the assistance directions and funding opportunities offered by Team Europe to modernise rural areas in the country.

“Since we were part of the Plaiul Coduri Local Action Group, we have managed to implement a number of projects with the support of the European Union, including equipping the local school with video surveillance cameras, a technique for modern training or setting up a space for outdoor hours. We also propose to be very active in the future, to participate and to attract young local people to get involved”, noted Victoria Ivanesi teacher at the ‘Ion Creangă’ gymnasium in Micleușeni.

Dumitru Braga manager of the social enterprise ‘cherry flower’ from the village of Răzeni he started his business in 2013. with the support of the European Union it has managed to grow at home and provide quality services to the community in which it lives: “For us it is very important that we continue to be supported by the EU to be able to develop more and to be able to help as many beneficiaries of our social canteen as possible, to employ more workers, including people with disabilities.”

Visits to the 16 municipalities from across the country are part of the information campaign “EU for Rural Moldova”carried out in the framework of the project financed by The European Union “Communication and visibility of EU assistance under the Annual Action Programme 2016”. The aim of the campaign is to reflect the changes made in rural areas by the support provided by the European Union and the Member States.
