ODIMM launched Business Women Academy Project
300 Moldovan women will be beneficiaries of the Business Women Academy project. The project will be managed by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) in partnership with the International Centre for the Promotion of Women in Business (ICAWB) with financial support from the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. The new project is aimed at women entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova and has the overall objective of promoting economic and social empowerment in rural areas by reducing gender inequality, increasing and developing business, changing the perception of innovation, increasing access to modern resources, services and technologies.
The 300 women who will participate in the project Business Women Academy they will be able to develop their managerial skills, optimise the management of the company’s business processes and develop the company’s ability to export.

According to Yulia Iabanjisurveys and research carried out under the National Women’s Platform find that a large proportion of businesses initiated in the Republic of Moldova are stagnating after one year of activity. Specifically, this project will help women determine the reasons for stagnation and find solutions for the company to move forward and increase its turnover, said Iulia Iabanji.
Vitalie Iurcu, Deputy Minister for Economic Affairsnoted that the development of the field of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the involvement of women in business and the promotion of exports were among the most important priorities of the Ministry of Economy and the Government, and urged women to invest in the development of entrepreneurial capacities, noting that each financial unit invested in the development of human resources capacities would generate at least 30 profit units of the company.
Pirkka Tapiola, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, he mentioned that he was extremely optimistic about Moldova’s success in the area of entrepreneurship especially if the authorities would promote the most active involvement of women in the business. According to Pirkka Tapiola, the world’s most successful managers say that if a country’s economy is to grow sustainably, it is imminent to increase the number of women in its business. 

According to global statistics, 52 per cent of the inhabitants of EU countries are women and 29 per cent of them are involved in entrepreneurship.
“Business Women Academy” it involves training women beneficiaries to run the export-oriented business and the 10 best business ideas will win grants and receive assistance during the project.
The training shall be carried out by learning by doing learning by doing, which can facilitate the development of managerial skills of women entrepreneurs and women running a business, as well as the development of partnerships between participants. Once the project is finished, the beneficiaries will be able to share their knowledge and experience to develop the skills of their employees.
The Academy will also implement for the first time in the Republic of Moldova elements of the PLATO Programme, which operates in the West over twenty years and has been implemented in recent years also in Eastern European countries. The PLATO programme is a tool for upgrading the managerial skills of entrepreneurs, developing the strategic thinking needed for the development of their business and developing collaborative networks. A huge advantage of the PLATO programme is that participants learn from each other based on the experience gained during their work. Plato was launched to support the development of the business environment and SMEs in particular.
The Business Women Academy project is funded by the European Union through the Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation (EuropeAid) and is implemented by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM).
