The Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector (ODSME) and the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) are working together to develop impactful initiatives that will propel the economy and increase the financial inclusion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The two institutions, represented by IULIA COSTIN, Director General ODIMM and Oxana BINZARU, Regional Director for Eastern Partenatoriate Countries and Romania, European Fund for South-Eastern Europe, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The aim of this commitment is to develop and implement joint projects to support the development of SMEs, to promote entrepreneurship, as well as to contribute to the financial education of entrepreneurs and their uptake of the latest business management practices and technologies.

“The signing of this Memorandum is an important step in the creation of new technical and financial assistance programmes that will make a crucial contribution to increasing the competitiveness of the HMM sector, fostering the innovativeness and capacities of ODIMM to provide quality services to domestic entrepreneurs”, said Julia COSTIN, Director-General ODIMM.

Oxana BINZARU, EFSE Regional Director, noted: “In the collaboration between EFSE and ODIMM, we see a huge potential for achieving our common aspirations to strengthen the success of the SME sector in Moldova. The country is well matched with enthusiastic entrepreneurs and workers, and ODIMM is the trusted partner providing the necessary support, resources and opportunities for SMEs. We are sure that this synergistic cooperation will amplify the impact and increase the viability of business and the ecosystem, contributing to healthy economic development”.

According to the Memorandum, the MSMEs will run financial education programmes for SMEs, facilitate entrepreneurs’ access to training and webinars through an online educational platform and other digital channels, modernise the applicability of the bank guarantee at portfolio level, promoting the advantages of this instrument for financial institutions and MSMEs.

The Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development Organisation is a public institution empowered to develop and implement programmes and instruments to support the small and medium-sized enterprise sector, operating pursuant to Government Decision No 538 of 17 May 2007. The Organisation shall be established with the aim of supporting the development of the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with the priorities of the Government as set out in its strategies and programmes to support the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises. The mission of the Organisation is to develop a constructive dialogue with the entrepreneurial world in the HEI sector throughout the implementation of business ideas, from their inception and development to their transformation into successful histories.

The European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) aims to boost economic development and prosperity in the countries of Southeast Europe and the Eastern Partnership. EFSE cooperates with local partner credit institutions to meet the financing needs of micro and small enterprises and low-income private households.
