In 2015, the Ministry of Economy plans to create two new business incubators in Cahul and Călărași. The decision was taken at the Council working meeting to coordinate and monitor the creation and development of business incubators.

In addition, the Council decided that the IMMOs would prepare an Action Plan on the development of the network and the construction of new business incubators in 2015, to be presented and approved at the next Council meeting. In order to create new business incubators and develop the existing ones, the government budget envisaged financial means worth lei 15 mln.

At the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Economic Affairs Stephane Bride, noted the importance of business incubators for the development of the local economy: “By expanding the Business Incubators Network new businesses, i.e. new jobs, are created and the entrepreneurial environment is becoming more attractive to young entrepreneurs”, said the Minister of Economy.

The selected locations meet the criteria set for this purpose: publicly owned building with space of at least 2 000 m² available for production located in an area of access and communication infrastructure (water and sewerage network, gas, heating system, etc.), as well as the possibility of co-financing by local councils and other interested structures to the incubator.

To date, 9 business incubators have been launched in Moldova: in Ștefan-Vode, Dubăsari, Leova, Ceadârlunga, Rezina, Nisporeni, S bloodi, Soroca and Cimișlia.

Business incubators are created on the basis of the objectives set out in the SME Sector Development Strategy 2012-2020, the Policy Matrix of the Sector Support Programme “Economic Simulation in Rural Areas”, funded by the EU and the Policy Matrix of the Programme supporting the establishment of the Free Trade Area, Deep and Coverage (DCFTA), which includes the action “Creation and development of business incubators”.
