Industrial Suppliers & Engineering Forum 2022
The second edition of the Industrial Suppliers & Engineering Forum, dedicated exclusively to industry and engineering, took place on 25 May 2022.
The Industrial Suppliers & Engineering Forum is a connecting platform for the business community, facilitating public-private dialogue and ensuring continuous interaction between representatives of industrial companies.
The Industrial Suppliers & Engineering Forum is dedicated to the development of SMUs in the Republic of Moldova and to facilitating the creation of links between local companies and global value chains, thus forming industrial and engineering skills in the country, adding value to international participants. The event aims to raise awareness of the topics of electronics, engineering, research and development among the business community and young people.
Dumitru Pîntea, Acting Director, Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) “ODIMM provides support to local companies in creating partnerships and supports the expansion of businesses into other markets. The institution has several support instruments in its portfolio, aimed at supporting Moldovan companies in the process of internationalisation, greening, digitalisation and encouraging participation in local and international exhibitions/fairs”. The online business connection platform BusinessLink.MD – platform was launched in the forum and was intended as a key governmental tool for developing contacts between local suppliers and international companies. “The matchmaking platform will increase the visibility of local companies and make domestic companies’ products and services more accessible to potential international buyers”.
Radu Melnic, Director, Career Advice and Guidance Centre, Technical University of Moldova: “We are happy to be the organisers of an event for both SMEs looking for specialists and students interested in their professional development here at home in Moldova. The mission of the Technical University of Moldova is to train today’s students in the specialists of tomorrow”.
Sebastian Metz, Director General, AHK Romanian – German Chamber of Commerce and Industry he spoke about managing supply chain bottlenecks and ensuring business continuity in the region. “The Ukraine crisis has a direct impact on supply chains and outsourcing markets. Moldova can capitalise on these circumstances by providing an investment platform for Ukrainian and Russian companies”.
The Forum also held the Career Fair in Engineering and Technology, where national and international companies promoted vacancies and job offers for graduates and professionals. A manual PCB adhesion competition was organised for the first time at the event. In parallel, tours were organised at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport with laboratory visits, the Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics, the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Microelectronics, as well as at the Draexlmaier DSM Design Office, which aimed to organise Open Doors Day on this occasion.
The initiative to organise a Specialised Careers Fair started in 2017 at the Moldova Automotive Days event, hosted by the Moldovan Technical University. The aim of the career fair is to promote local engineering skills and highlight actors in domestic industry who require such skills.
Industrial Suppliers & Engineering Forum it was carried out by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM), the Association of Electronic Industry Companies of Moldova (ACEM) and the Investment Agency “Invest Moldova”, with the support of the project “Advice of the Government of the Republic of Moldova in Economic Policies”, implemented by GIZ Moldova with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
