Greening Moldova through green business
ODSMEs encourage and help the Moldovan business community to adapt to the global demands and trends of the green economy. This key message was delivered at the generic online event “Green economy. Made in Moldova-from the Green Economy to the European Green Deal”.
To this end, ODIMM implements the SME Greening Programmethe aim is to support entrepreneurs in promoting, supporting and developing environmentally-friendly business. Thus, the support mechanism encourages domestic companies to develop practices to green production and service delivery processes. In order to implement these objectives, companies may receive financial support up to RON 700.000.
The roundtable was attended by representatives of ministries and government agencies, international organisations, the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, embassies, the business sector, academia, environmental organisations, experts from the Republic of Moldova and the Eastern Partnership countries.
At the event, the need for government commitment in promoting the concept was reiterated. Green Economy in all sectors of the country’s social-economic development, attracting the private sector, development partners, obese associations and the public. Participants also highlighted the importance of raising awareness among business people, government agencies and the public about the application and benefits of the Green Economy principles for sustainable economic development.
The event was organised as part of the project European Union for the Environment (EU4Environment), funded by the EU, implemented by the OECD, UNECE, UNEP, UNIDO and the World Bank and coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
