Final spectacular for 2024: 41 million lei in grants for 72 local companies supported by the Government, the European Union and the World Bank
23 December 2024,Chireen — The year 2024 ends with a remarkable business event in Moldova. The Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Union and the World Bank via the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation, within the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, announced the provision of lei 41 million in grants to 72 local companies.The total value of investment in the domestic economy amounts to more than lei 89 million.
Out of these, 19 companies will benefit from EU funds totalling lei 9.6 million. The government of the Republic of Moldova will financially support 51 companies for a total amount of lei 31.8 million, while the World Bank provides financing to two other companies with lei one million.
At the announcement event of the beneficiaries, Vice-President and Minister for Economic Development and Digitalisation, Dumitru Alaiba said:
“Flicit with the 72 grant entrepreneurs and managed to strengthen their business. The development of a business is primarily the result of assidue work and the dedication of entrepreneurs. The State contributes by implementing reforms to facilitate their achievement of remarkable results.
Debureaucratisation, digitalisation, income tax reform, alongside Government Programme 373, created an enabling environment for business development in our country, enabling entrepreneurs to focus on progress and innovation.
The government remains committed to prioritising business support reforms. Entrepreneurs are true champions of digitalisation and European integration. Their work, passion and dedication are key pillars for the development of our economy and society.

Vadim Codreanu, Director of the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, reflected on the achievements of the end year. In his speech, the Director ODA captured the essence of progress and collaboration, while providing an optimistic vision for the coming year.

Grants are distributed through a number of programmes managed by ODA, including the Women Entrepreneurship Support Programme, the Technology and Energy Efficiency Programme of small and medium-sized enterprises, the “PARE 1+ 2 Programme”, the Digital Transformation of SMEs Programme, the greening programme for small and medium-sized enterprises, the Programme for Growth of Export and Internationalisation of the HMM, as well as the Support Programme for Small Producers.
The largest investments are allocated to industry, with around 50 % of beneficiaries coming from this industry. Another 30 % of entrepreneurs will invest in the acquisition of technical means for the development of the service sector, such as professional, scientific, technical, accommodation, catering and education activities. Around 20 % of beneficiaries are active in the agricultural sector, where they will direct funds towards repowering and greening their businesses.
In the course of this year, the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship facilitated 595 companies in accessing grants totalling more than lei 250 million. Of this amount, almost RON 179 million come from the state budget, while 54 million lei were provided by the European Union through the “EU for SMEs” project. Total investment in the economy amounts to lei 532.4 million.
Moreover, the World Bank, via the Programme for Growth of Export and Internationalisation of the HEIC, held 20 companies with funds worth almost lei 8 million.
Moreover, under the Digital Innovation and Startup Programme, 20 companies benefited from non-repayable grants amounting to lei 8.5 million, with the financial support of Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, in partnership with the Viitor Technology Project, funded by USAID, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
