ODIMM Diaspora Days
On 28-29 August, the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) participated in a series of Diaspora Days events in the Republic of Moldova.
On the first day, ODIMM opened its doors to the general public. More than 30 diaspora representatives from the UK, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Russia and returned migrant workers – keen to set up a business in the Republic of Moldova – participated in the information Seminar “Develops Ta Acasă Affairs!”. It presented the ODIMM programmes to support small and medium-sized enterprises and the success stories of PARE 1 + 1 beneficiaries.
Ms Iulia Iabanji, Director General ODIMM, mentioned that the event is taking place at the Diaspora Days, but the ODIMM doors are always open to everyone wishing to set up a business at home in the Republic of Moldova.
“ODIMM offers training, consultancy and business financing programmes. Today we are talking in particular:
about the PARE 1 + 1 Discharge Programme in the Economy, which was launched at the end of 2010. Migrants returning home have business ideas, willingness and financial resources, but they do not always know how to start a business. Through the PARE 1 + 1 programme our citizens can get advice and training over two weeks and have the possibility to access a grant of up to RON 200.000”mentioned Ms Iabanji.
The experience of returning migrant workers, who had the courage to set up their own businesses, was shared by the entrepreneur Valentina Ceban Mihailov, a beneficiary of the PARE 1 + 1 programme. His business, II ‘Vasilini’, is active in the garment sector, namely the production of sheepwool articles based on knitting. The company offers high quality items to customers using the latest technologies.
Ms Ceban gave advice to those who want to start a business at home: “To study very well the field in which they want to get started and not be afraid to join, because this will give them more power and profit”.
Another successful entrepreneur is Vasile Beșliu, beneficiary of several ODIMM programmes: PNAET, FGC and PARE 1 + 1. Having gained experience as owner of Garage Autoservice SRL, Vasile Beșliu encouraged those present:“Don’t be afraid to try, don’t be afraid to fail. When you have management knowledge you can be successful in any field of activity”.
On the second day, 29 August, ODIMM participated in the Information fair for
Diaspora and Returned Citizens, conducted in the Holy Ports Shield (Triumphal Arch).
We recall that every citizen wishing to set up a business in the Republic of Moldova can benefit from support and assistance through the programmes of the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector.
