ODIMM and RIAM participated in the training seminar “Patent information and documentation – support for the development of competitive products and services”
On 19 June, ODIMM and RIAM representatives participated in the training seminar with the generation “Patent Information and Documentation – Supporting the Development of Competitive Products and Services” organised by State Intellectual Property Agency (AGEPI).
The aim of the event was to educate and train representatives of business incubators, science and technology parks and business incubators in the republic in the field of intellectual property, as well as to develop their research and documentation skills in national and international information sources in the field of intellectual property, in particular in the field of patent information.
The event was attended by representatives of business and innovation incubators
of or. Leova, Sangerei, Dubasari, Stefan Voda, Soroca, Rezina, AITT specialists, ODIMM and AGEPI.
The seminar was opened by Ion ȚIGĂNAȘ, Deputy Director-General AGEPI, who welcomed representatives of business and innovation incubators to the meeting and mentioned the importance of promoting IP information in the business environment.
“In the Republic of Moldova, we unfortunately don’t have the conditions for businessmen to invest in research. This is why, for the time being, it is important to inform business about the possibilities offered by intellectual property. This is an area that is not well known but can generate revenue for them. You are free to interact and to get answers to your questions ", stated Vice-President General AGEPI.


In accordance with Programme the training seminar, a brief introduction to the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, was presented by Andrei Moisei, Director of the Legal Department.Petru GROSU, Deputy Director of Inventions and Plant Varieties, then informed seminar participants about the principles of the patent protection system, the procedure for filing and examining applications filed by AGEPI experts, focusing on practical issues related to the preparation of patent application documents, compliance with the criterion of novelty of the invention, terms to be respected, etc.
Tudor JOVMIR, Senior Specialist of the Plant Variety and Inventions Department, spoke about the role of patent information for the technological development of companies, the particularities and components of patent information, the patent document, the structure, the main categories and the publication modes, the publication levels of the patent document.
Tudor JOVMIR also informed seminar participants about patent bibliographic information codes, patent document nominal and temporal data, International Classification and Patent Cooperative, patent research types, AGEPI “Inventions” databases, multinational patent databases with public access, patent information analysis and uses, etc.
The seminar allowed those present to better exploit the benefits of the IP protection system for the development of competitive products and services, in particular by small and medium-sized enterprises. Participants also mentioned the importance of organising information seminars in the field of intellectual property for business.
