Czechia’s experience in digitising SMEs could be successfully taken over by Moldova. A Czech expert group held an information session at ODIMM headquarters on policies for the digitalisation of the business sector. Opening the event, Petru Gurgurov, Acting Director-General of ODIMM, stressed the importance of European experience in the process of digitalisation of small and medium-sized companies.

“Czechia’s experience in facilitating the implementation of new practices to bring the SME sector into current trends in the global economy is welcome. It is imperative for the Republic of Moldova to adopt a new method of developing entrepreneurship, namely to move towards digitalisation and automation of production processes ", reiterated Petru Gurgurov.

Present at the event, Constantin Țurcanu, Senior Specialist, Business and SME Regulation Section of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, mentioned the advantages that SMEs can benefit from with the digitalisation of production processes, such as the flow of information and knowledge, product creation, easy connection with potential customers and access to markets.

“The development of the digital innovation and start-up support ecosystem is among the Ministry’s priorities in the field of SMEs to increase their competitiveness and foster innovative spirit”.

According to Czech experts, the phenomenon of digitalisation of businesses is absolutely necessary in the economic market, because companies that use information technologies in their production, development and other activities have control over the market. Expert Evžen Reitschläger, representing the Czech Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, highlighted the main priorities for a strong, competitive and highly digitalised economy. He also mentioned that “the digitalisation process can bring new challenges for entrepreneurs, but they will bring great long-term benefits through the development of new products and services, new technologies and process chains, new business models and higher production efficiency”.

In the near future, a team of Moldovan specialists will go on a fact-finding visit to Czechia to familiarise themselves with good practice in the field of digitalisation of the Czech economy. They will then develop a concept to support the modernisation of the SME sector.
