Entrepreneurship education for women
547 women entrepreneurs or willing to start a business followed for 2 weeks free entrepreneurial education coursesorganised by ODIMMin partnership with O Women Moldova and with the financial support provided by Government of Japan.
During the period 10-23 March, beneficiaries from the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova travelled online 6 training modules to develop their economic and social skills and be prepared to start or develop a business within the parameters of a new economic reality. The training topics covered: employment, social media marketing, risk management, business initiation, management and development, and promotion of gender equality.
Over 70 % of all women enrolled in training; they have not received any more courses in entrepreneurship. 62 % of women trained are between 18-35 years old, 22 % is on parental leave, 41 % I live in the countryside, and 20 % they are from socially vulnerable groups.
The most requested modules by the participants were:
— Innovation and business development;
— Starting and managing the business and drawing up the business plan;
— Digital skills, online activity, social media marketing.
Most of the trained women have argued their intentions to improve their entrepreneurial skills in order to manage a viable business properly and to be competitive in the market during this pandemic period.
The trainings were organised in the framework of the Project ‘Measures to address the pressing needs of women and girls who are marginalised or in a vulnerable situation aggravated by Coronavirus (COVID-19)’.
The partnership between ODIMM and UN Women contributes to the implementation of the national strategic plan on COVID-19 recovery and women’s empowerment, in particular those who have been more affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, providing them with opportunities for secure incomes, decent jobs and economic independence. In total, through this project, 7 entrepreneurship training modules were organised for around 600 women.
