Debates on the development of a new Female Entrepreneurship Support Programme
The Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODA) has hosted debates dedicated to the development of a new Female Entrepreneurship Support Programme, which will aim at boosting women’s entrepreneurship by supporting the development of enterprises established and managed by women. The meeting was attended by Members of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, the EU Delegation, the Swedish Embassy, UN Women, as well as non-governmental organisations.
At the start of the debate, ODA Director Dumitru Pîntea reiterated the importance of developing a new support programme for female entrepreneurship, tailored to the real needs of both female entrepreneurs and the national economy.
“With the new Feminin Entrepreneurship Support Programme, we aim to better target the specific areas of female entrepreneurship, as well as the real needs of female entrepreneurs, the national economy and the state in general. It aims to strengthen the number of women entrepreneurs, improve the economic performance and resilience of women-led micro, small and medium-sized enterprises”.
Women’s economic empowerment is also supported and promoted by development partners and international organisations.
Boris Filipov, Programme Manager at the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, praised the development of a support tool dedicated to women entrepreneurs, assuring that the EU will continue to support the development of SMEs, including women business developers.
Dominika Stojanoska, country representative of UN Women Moldova, said that “Over the last few years, the situation has improved in terms of women’s economic empowerment, but work remains to achieve gender equality. This entrepreneurial support programme is welcome and will boost women’s involvement in economic activities”.
The initiative to support female entrepreneurship was also welcomed by Karin Borovic, Head of Development Cooperation, Swedish Embassy in the Republic of Moldova.
At the event, the concept of the new programme was presented, which will include financial support for both start-ups and growing companies. In addition, companies could benefit from the ‘E-Commerce Package’, which will cover expenses necessary to organise the company’s e-commerce business.
Representatives of women’s organisations highlighted the real challenges and needs they have in everyday economic activity. The recommendations made will be analysed in the process of finalising the programme.
