Chisinau, 11 October 2024 — The second day of the Antreprenor Expo 2024 event was scored by three key sessions for entrepreneurs, bringing together advisory and finance leaders, along with government representatives, the banking sector and development partners. The sessions were dedicated to promoting cross-sectoral collaboration and access to essential resources for business growth and development.

The session focusing on access to finance, organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation together with the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, provided entrepreneurs with tangible solutions to expand their business.

Participants had the opportunity to learn about the Government Programme 373, but also about the new financing products offered by the Entrepreneurship and Growth Fund (face). Presentations by experts from the Polish Development Bank (BGK), the German Development Bank (KfW), ODA and the banking sector highlighted the importance of investments and support to local companies.

Petru Rotaru, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, underlined the role of the banking system in supporting SMEs: ‘The National Bank of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to ensure a stable and predictable financial environment. SMEs are the backbone of the national economy and we are committed to creating the necessary framework for easy access to finance.”

Jacek Kasprzyk, responsible for the business of the Polish Ambassad in the Republic of Moldova, highlighted the collaboration of the moldo-polonese in support of local entrepreneurs: ‘Poland remains a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova and through joint initiatives such as the programme we make BGK Investment, we want to contribute to economic growth and the development of the Moldovan business sector.”

Sergiu Guțu, Head of the KfW Chișinău Office, pointed out, in a dedicated panel, about the support provided by the Government of Germany for the sustainable economic development of the Moldovan entrepreneurial sector:

Through the Blueprint for the Development Facility for SMEs in Moldova worth 10.7 Mil. Euro, non-repayable assistance from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development, implemented through the German Bank KfW in partnership with ODA, SMEs will be able to benefit from financing for sustainable investments that support economic growth and find new jobs here at home.”

Finally, Vadim Codreanu, Director of the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, highlighted the ambitious commitments made by ODA to support entrepreneurs:

“ODA has made ambitious commitments to support entrepreneurs and build a prosperous Moldov. Today, with the launch of the programme we are making BGK Investment and preparing the product we are making KfW investments, we are building a new solid foundation in this effort.”

One point of interest was the session dedicated to the Credit Guarantee Fund (CGF), where experts from Romania, Germany and the Republic of Moldova discussed credit risk sharing and put forward innovative solutions for SMEs aimed at facilitating their access to finance by securing loans.

Business meetings (Speed Business Meetings), organised by the Moldovan Consultants Association, have also provided entrepreneurs and consultants with the opportunity to establish strategic partnerships, facilitating the exchange of key ideas and resources for business growth. Dynamic discussions highlighted the specific needs of the business environment and the solutions available through specialised advice.

At the same time, the State Agency for Intellectual Property organised a session dedicated to competitive aspects and product promotion in the European market, giving entrepreneurs a clear view of the challenges and opportunities in the field of intellectual property protection and promotion of Moldovan products on external markets.

We would point out that, as an entrepreneur Expo, at its third edition, a new format was held this year, offering a complex platform dedicated to entrepreneurs in various sectors.

Over four days, more than 120 entrepreneurs present their products and services, while other participants have the opportunity to take part in information sessions, discussion panels, interactive workshops and B2B meetings.

This event takes place with the support of the “Long Business and Commons for Moldova” project, funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Government of Switzerland, implemented by GIZ Moldova. The event is also financially supported by the European Union through the project “EU for Small and Medium Enterprises” and other development partners.
