Compensation for electricity: Lei 41.6 million allocated so far to companies in the Republic of Moldova
15 May 2025, Chisinau – The total amount of electricity compensation granted to entrepreneurs has reached lei 41.6 million, an amount paid so far to the accounts of 620 enterprises across the country. The money has been gradually transferred to consumption in January, February, March and partly April 2025.
Recently, the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship has transferred a new tranche of RON 17.1 million related to energy consumption in the second half of March and beginning of April. This amount complements the lei 24.5 million granted previously.
The compensation programme was launched in January 2025 and aims to mitigate the impact of rising energy prices in a challenging regional context, marked by volatility in the energy market. With this measure, the Government and the European Union support companies to help them maintain their business, jobs and competitiveness. EU financial support to cover these compensations is a concrete expression of European solidarity.
The application process is 100 % digital, fast and accessible. Eligible companies may submit applications directly to the EVO application or via the MCabinet portal, in the dedicated module ‘Compensations’.
In order to best meet the needs of the business environment, the programme has been adjusted during implementation. The most important changes include:
- Extension of the deadline for submitting applications from 10 days to 30 days from the date of issue of the invoice;
- Deletion of the 3 % eligibility criterion in order to increase the number of beneficiaries;
- Extension of the programme throughout 2025 compared to only three months initially foreseen.
SMEs are the engine of the economy. And when we support them, we support people, jobs and the future of communities across the country.
