Adventure tourism in Türkiye under the project “Development of the Aer Liber adventure tourism network in the Black Sea Basin area”
Between 20 and 23 August, the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) and partners from Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia and Türkiye participated in the International Sports Festival. The Festival was organised in Türkiye, Kastamonu, as part of the project “Development of the Aer Liber adventure Tourism Network in the Black Sea Basin Area”.
During the visit, the partners had the opportunity to learn about the tourist attraction strengths of theN area, learn about the region’s development plans, experience and good practices in designing and implementing European projects.
Those present at the Festival also had the opportunity to participate in athletics competitions, cycling, horse racing. On the festive side, the hosts made an incursion into Turkish culture through traditional dances, music and cookery.
We recall that studies were carried out in the countries participating in the project between May and July 2014 to identify opportunities and impediments to the development of outdoor adventure tourism.
As a result of this study, a joint strategy and action plan will be developed to unlock the potential of tourism.

The overall objective of the Project is to accelerate economic and social growth in the Black Sea Basin region by developing the adventure tourism network. The DOOA is funded by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) and the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) under the Black Sea Basin Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.
Tourism in the city of Kastamonu
Both old and modern, Kastamonu is a small paradise near the Black Sea coast in Türkiye. For the European tourist it is the ideal destination, both in terms of the natural beauty that surrounds it, as well as the rich past or possibilities of relaxation. Kastamonu is one of the few cities to admire traditional Turkish homes built in a unique style in the region and Ottoman culture. On the top of a rocky hill, about 200 m above the municipality itself, there are traces of a well-founded bizanthin citadel. It appears that the current structure dates back to the times of the Candaroglu, i.e. the 15th century. Relatively nearby natural attractions include: Mount Ilgaz National Park, renowned for winter sports, Alinca underground cave in Kure and Ilgarini cave in Cide.

The city of Kastamonu covers an area of 1 834.00 km² and has 102.059 inhabitants with a density of 55,65 per km². The average altitude is 904 m. The English name is Kastamonu.
