A further 72 companies initiated by women will receive non-repayable funding through the Mea in Business Programme
The Basin Affairs Programme Supervisory Committee endorsed online the winnings of the 5th small grant contest. 156 entrepreneurs from all regions of the country were put into competition, 72 of which were selected for non-repayable funding. The total value of grants will amount to lei 9.22 million, which will boost investment in the domestic economy of about lei 15 million.
Present at the Committee’s online meeting, IULIANA Drăgălin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure reiterated State support for the development of female entrepreneurship.
‘We take the courage and perseverity of women entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova. During this complicated period, we support investment projects, which contribute to the economic development of communities, to the creation and maintenance of jobs, particularly in rural areas,’ mentioned IULIANA Gap.
Iulia Costin, Director General ODIMM stressed that promoting female entrepreneurship is a State priority.

The funding of the 72 women-managed companies will create around 219 new jobs.
Around 55 % of the investment projects approved today are in the field of service provision (education centres, logopedies and psychology for children, furniture design, model development and design of Western templates, photographic and cinema, bookkeeping and auditing, aesthetic medical and dietology clinicals, agrotourism, ICT and online marketing activities, non-hazardous waste collection, etc.), other 38 % will operate in manufacturing (production of clothing, manufacture of furniture, patiling and bakery products, vegetable oils, fruit powders, aromatic plants and plants, fruit and vegetables processing), and 7 percent they are from agriculture and zootechnics (water).
Grant analysts will develop innovative business such as: production of medical disinfectants and accommodation and food service activities; natural handmade cosmetics, wood-based coal, personalised toys from wood, teacher training, mental arithmetic centre and child diplomacy, communication consultancy; personalised pliable photos and design of landscape design.
To date, 395 investment projects have been financed through the Basin Business Programme. The approved projects amounted to 53.94, which generated lei 93 million in investment in the economy and facilitated the creation of over 1,600 new jobs. Maximum amount of grants under this component is RON 165.000/beneficiary, which can be used to purchase investment items and business development services.
The programme is financed by the State budget and supplemented by European Union funds through the ‘support for SMEs in rural areas’ project.

The selection of investment projects will be invited in early September to the DSOs to sign non-repayable financing contracts.
