In the first semester of 2017, some 660 entrepreneurs participated in training seminars through the Efficient Business Management Programme (GEA), managed by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM). This year, 23 courses were organised in 15 municipalities in the Republic of Moldova. Half of the courses took place in the south of the country and the rest in the central and northern regions. Participants in the Programme benefited from a wide range of modules, established through a survey. Around 75 % of respondents opted for the Business Accounting modules, Business Planning Initiation, Sales Techniques.
The survey results show that entrepreneurs need business advice at all stages of a company’s life cycle. Thus, around 30 % of the beneficiaries who attended the GEA training seminars are entrepreneurs with 5-10 years of business activity on the market and 19 % of entrepreneurs manage 3-5 years of business.
Most of the training recipients are entrepreneurs in the fields of agriculture, construction, wholesale and retail. Half of them manage Farmers’ Households, around 17 % have Limited Liability Companies active and 12 % coordinate Individual Enterprises.
We would point out that 80 % of all people trained under the GEA programme have also received other training in the field, indicating that entrepreneurs are in a continuous process of studying and developing skills in the area of business management.
Of the total number of people trained, 52 % are women and the average age of participants is 41.
