600 young people will be supported in business through the National PROGRAMME ‘START FOR young people’
The organisation for the development of the sector of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) launched the National PROGRAMME “STARTY FOR young people: a sustainable business at your home’.
Iulia Costin, Secretary-General of State, Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) welcomed the launch of the Programme and stressed that maintaining young people in the country, as well as their motivation for entrepreneurship activities, mostly in rural areas, gave a boost to the initiation of this programme financed by the State budget. “Young people account for a quarter of the country’s population and are a strategic component of sustainable development through labour supply and family creation. Statistics for recent years show that, of total employment, a decrease in the share of young people in employment is shown, while high proportions of unemployment are retained, targeted at other age groups or the average across countries. The main problem for young entrepreneurs remains access to easily accessible financial resources. With this programme we propose to integrate Moldovan young people into the economic circuit and facilitate the start-up and development of business", accentuated the MEI official.

Petru Gurgurov, Director General Interimar ODIMM presented the “START for young people: a sustainable business at home” reiterating that young people are vulnerable due to a lack of experience and practical skills, the limited number of existing jobs, but also a lack of trust. “The programme can apply to young people aged 18-35, who have launched or intend to launch a business, especially in rural areas. The implementation of the Programme includes 4 phases, which relate to the actual implementation of the Programme: identifying business ideas, competition from project notes, funding and post-financing monitoring" said Petru Gurgurov.
ODIMM will support young entrepreneurs at all stages of the investment project, both by developing entrepreneurial knowledge and practical capacities, increasing skills in presenting their own business, and by financing the most viable investment projects.

The programme aims to reinforce around 600 young people in the process of generating business ideas; training and assisting at least 540 young people in starting the development of the innovative business, RON 180 thousand grant funding of 250 businesses initiated and developed by young entrepreneurs, including 10 % of disadvantaged young people, the creation and maintenance of at least 400 new jobs, mostly 70 % in rural areas.
The implementation of the 3-year programme will be allocated lei 60 million from the State budget. It is implemented by the Organisation for the Development of the Sector of Small and Medium Enterprises.
