The first 57 Moldovan companies will receive grants of up to RON 200 for business digitalisation. At the same time, a further 123 businesses will benefit from the Business Vouchere in the amount of RON 20 for accessing web development and social networking services. The selection of companies proposed for funding took place at the meeting of the Supervisory Committee of the “Digitalisation Support Tool”. The programme is financed from the state budget and is offset by European Union funds.

Iuliana Drăgălin, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Chairman of the Programme Supervisory Committee, highlighted that the digitalisation and technology of businesses are important elements in ensuring resilience to economic crises such as the one caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am glad that more and more entrepreneurs are interested in continuously developing their businesses and have applied the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Digitalisation Support Tool. In the current context, it is imperative that businesses modernise their online platforms so that they easily sell their products and services”.

ODIMM Director-General Iulia Costin appreciated the interest of entrepreneurs in modernising marketing strategies and moving towards e-commerce. “We are convinced that the new Support Instrument will provide important opportunities for SMEs to make their production processes more efficient. the capacity to innovate and generate new business models, and the use of information and digital technologies will significantly increase competitiveness in both the internal and external market”.

Of the 57 companies, submitted for funding under the Grant30 % are in agriculture and agri-food, 20 % in manufacturing, 5 % in scientific and technical professional activities, 7 % in information and communication technologies, 9 % in accommodation and food, 13 % in other fields (education, healthcare, translation, etc.).

38 % of companies are located in mill. Chisinau, 29 % in the northern region of the country, 17 % in the Centre and 16 % in the southern region and UTA Gagauzia.

In addition, through the Support Instrument, 123 enterprises have been submitted for funding under support in the form of Business Voucher to contract services for the development of their own webpage, setting on social networking pages, developing the online profile and description of the activity of the company and its products, joining market-place platforms offering online payment possibilities and integrated logistics aspects.

The Digitalisation Support Instrument was launched in June this year to support the digital transformation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in order to harness innovative potential and facilitate companies’ access to domestic and foreign markets.

The programme has 3 Components: Information and communication; Entrepreneurship education and training; Business finance. Between August and October 2020, 16 online training sessions were held, attended by 466 representatives of SMEs. The Support Instrument for the Digitalisation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises is financed from the state budget and replaced by European Union funds, implemented by ODIMM, in agreement with the Project “Advice to the Government of the Republic of Moldova in Economic Policies”, implemented by GIZ Moldova with the financial support of the Governments of Germany and Switzerland, as well as with the implementing partners – GoOnline of the COR Association, the Startup Moldova Programme developed by the TEKWILL project, with the support of USAID, Sweden and UK aid.
