13 years of ODIMM partnership – European Union
International cooperation is essential to take up experiences, create connections between business support organisations and align national practices with successful strategies in other states. In 13 years of activity, ODIMM has made major efforts in strengthening the network of development partners to fulfil its mission of increase in competitiveness economy national. Since its first years of activity, the European Union has been a reliable partner that has supported ODSME efforts in the development of the HMM sector. in the Republic of Moldova.
“The collaboration between ODSMEs and the EU started in the first months of activity, supporting the capacity building of the organisation and sharing the experiences of European countries in supporting the SME sector. Over the years, this partnership has been strengthened and the EU has become the main donor to ODSMEs, together contributing to the development of small businesses, the creation of jobs, especially in rural areas, and the creation of business support infrastructure in the regions. Among the main results we are proud of is the development of the Credit Guarantee Fund, the 10 Business Incubators in the regions launched in 2012-2017 period as well as direct assistance for the capitalisation of the Programmes ‘Look 1 + 1’ and ‘Women in Business’; highlights Iulia Costin, Director General ODIMM.
The impact of technical and financial assistance programmes and international projects funded by the European Union has been instrumental in increasing the competitiveness of the SME sector and the capacities of ODSMEs to provide quality services to domestic entrepreneurs. Some of the results over the years are illustrated in the Infographic (see picture).
ODSMEs also participate actively, as the private sector representative, in the platforms for small and medium-sized enterprises at European level, with the aim of taking up good practices in this area, but also of promoting support instruments to support the Moldovan HMM sector.. Today, many ODSME initiatives are seen as successful models in the Eastern European region and are being multiplied in these countries to help reduce migration, increase investment in the economy and improve people’s well-being.
