Petru Gurgurov, Acting Director-General ODIMM, said that developing female entrepreneurship is a priority for ODSME. ‘Under the second strand of the Women in Business Programme, female entrepreneurs can access non-reimbursable financing for business development up to a maximum amount of RON 165.000 per beneficiary. Grants may be used to purchase investment items and business development services. Today we give the 101 entrepreneurs the opportunity to start and run a successful business. I encourage women who have failed to apply to the second call for projects under the Programme to apply to the next two ", Petru Gurgurov said.

DSC 1967 editedFunding for companies run by women will maintain some 263 existing jobs (84 % for women, 61 % for young people up to the age of 35) and create 385 new jobs (81 % for women and 65 % for young people).

Around 63 % of the investment projects approved today are in the manufacturing sector (garments, hand-painted textiles; craftsmanship; processing of dairy products, manufacture of bread and pastry products, production of creamy honey, fruit drying; biomass lighters). Another 29 % will provide services (design, education services for children, film production, IT, veterinary services, advertising, accounting, healthcare, etc.). The remaining 8 % of female entrepreneurs plan to invest in agriculture (potting flowers and trees; rearing of down and feathers geese, sheep, taurines and goats; beekeeping).DSC 1975 edited

The majority of the beneficiaries are from the Centre of the country – 71 %, 15 % from the North and 14 % from the South of the country respectively. The most active applicants to the Programme are Chisinau, Anenii Noi, Ialoveni, Orhei, Sângerei and UTA Gagauzia.

So far, 2 calls for projects have been carried out in which a total of 201 investment projects have been selected for grant. The third call for projects will be launched in the coming period. Companies registered from 0 to 24 months, managed by women, can apply for the competition.

DSC 2055 editedThe Women in Business pilot programme is managed by ODIMM and has an implementation duration of 3 years. This government initiative aims to promote the economic and social ability of women in rural areas. The programme is financed from the state budget and is offset by European Union funds.
