UNECE2015 celebrates the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the United Nations (UN), an event marked by the organisation of a series of international activities adopted at the meeting of the European Parliament and the Council in 2014.

Thus, in September 2015, in New York, UN Member States will adopt the Post-2015 Development Agenda geared towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is among the institutions on the frontline with a considerable contribution to achieving these objectives.

On 14 April 2015, UNECE will host the first innovative strart-up in the Geneva Palace.

At this event, organisers will present case studies demonstrating how innovative entrepreneurial talent can help address current social and environmental challenges, through innovative ideas that can become successful business. The competition is open to young companies and to teams of entrepreneurs, researchers and students from the UNECE region and is organised to gather innovative ideas and new solutions for sustainable development in a wide range of areas directly related to the work of UNECE. Thus, not only products and technologies, but also social innovation and new ways of creating things, are welcome in the competition.

The finalists will be invited to present their drafts to a jury and representatives of 56 Member States participating in the UNECE session on 14-16 April 2 015 in Geneva to set out further actions to promote the Agenda for Sustainable Development in the region for the coming years.

Winners of the competition will be honoured at a award ceremony during the session.

The deadline for submitting ideas is 28 February 2015!
