About Social Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova:

So far, 4 companies in the Republic of Moldova awarded their title to “educational social enterprises” at the National Social Entrepreneurship Commission. Other 46 companies are known to conduct social activities on a regular basis.

Expanding the scope of action of social enterprises is important, also because these businesses, for example, choose to offer employment to people who would hardly succeed in engaging in a regular company, people with different disabilities, single mothers, wid people. In real terms, compared to a non-governmental organisation, which has committed itself to helping disadvantaged people, but depends on donations, a social business manages to stay alone, also contributing to the development of a country’s economy.

According to statistical data, the social economy in Europe covers over 14.5 million paid employeesthis is equivalent to around 6.5 % of the working-age population and around one out of four businesses created has social enterprise status.

Campaign initiated and supported by the Transnational Finance4SocialChange project, co-financed by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI). The aim of the project is to promote social impacts and stimulate the development of companies interested in resolving Community problems. ODIMM is a partner, together with 19 other institutions from 15 countries in the Danube region.
