On 14 June this year, the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector (ODIMM), in partnership with the Employers’ Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Iași, Romania, organised the conference launching the project “Lead Your Way to Businesses” under the Romania-Ukraine – Republic of Moldova Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.

The aim of the project is to intensify and improve cross-border cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, by encouraging and supporting young people on both sides of the Prut in initiating and developing businesses with a cross-border social and economic impact, and thus contributing in the long term to reducing youth emigration, creating new jobs and improving the overall economy in the region.

The project is aimed at young people aged 18-35 in Moldova and Romania (Suceava, Iași and Vaslui counties). The planned duration of the Lead Your Way to Business project is 22 months.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  1. create an enabling framework to sustain businesses in the cross-border area;
  2. improve the entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of 100 young people on both sides of the Prut, including
    through the mentoring system;
  3. assist young beneficiaries in analysing and planning their own business;
  4. stimulate bilateral dialogue and partnerships.

The core activities of the project foresee:

  • Creation of 2 Start-up Cross-Border Support Centres (in the Republic of Moldova and Romania);
  • Activities to develop entrepreneurial skills (seminars, workshops, and meetings), both for young/potential entrepreneurs and for the consultants of the Business Advisory Centres;
  • Provision of consultancy services, in particular in the preparation of business plans;
  • Running the Business Plans Competition;
  • Organisation of the Cross-Border Business Promotion Forum developed by the project beneficiaries.
