Information about the founders of companies registered in the Republic of Moldova will become public, announces the Economic Council of the Prime Minister. It will be available free of charge on the government portal www.date.gov.md, as of April with monthly update.

The decision follows repeated calls from business and civil society, which have pointed out that the lack of free access to information about the founders of companies of third persons creates opportunities for fraud and corruption.

As of next month, information will also be added to the www.date.gov.md portal with reference to the licensed fields of activity and activities of Moldovan juridical persons.

As a reminder, since October 2014 on www.date.gov.mdinformation about the date of registration, the list of directors, the organisational and legal form, the status and the seat of all entities in our country can be accessed free of charge.

Some 204 thousand companies are registered in the Republic of Moldova, of which 172 thousand are active.
