EU4Environment invites Moldovan industry representatives, experts, government members to join efforts and share experiences on the potential of resource efficiency to set the circular economy agenda in motion for Moldovan small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The event will highlight and promote resilience and green growth in Moldovan enterprises by presenting the benefits (RECP) in the transition to a green and circular economy. In addition, it will provide an opportunity to share experience and lessons learned in implementing the RECP methodology in the Moldovan industrial and manufacturing sector by highlighting examples of eco-innovation in target sectors (winemaking, construction and textile production, in particular) and presenting means of accessing support instruments, funding and services (both national and EU). In addition, the national conference promises to be a platform to discuss potential synergies and collaborations within other national and international initiatives, and to promote national policy on the green transition of MSIs.

The focus is on Moldova's industrial and manufacturing sector, in particular "Made in Moldova/Made in Moldova" products and services. The kick-off discussion will start with high-level commitments on the challenges and opportunities of introducing the green and circular economy as drivers of competitiveness and sustainability. This will include references to EU legislation and the Circular Economy Action Plan, as well as EU support initiatives such as the EU LIFE Programme. It will also include a recognition ceremony for RECP MSIs and experts who have participated in the European Union Environment Programme Demonstration Project led by UNIDO for the period 2020-2023. The ceremony will be followed by a media briefing and a short networking break to facilitate the exchange of experience between representatives of MEIs and national journalists.

Additional discussions will include examples of resource and energy efficiency in the manufacturing sector, greening strategies and tools such as the Eco-Industrial Park Framework, greening of products and new export opportunities, means to facilitate green support and access to finance for a green transition.

The event is organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), as implementing partner of the European Union Environment Programme / EU4Environment Action, and supported in Moldova by its national partner, the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODA).
